Why Decdak For Cancer Patient

Madeleine Peyroux - Careless Love (Rounder, 2004)

is what can produce the fact of living in France to USA: a stylistic mixture between European classical and pop popjazz, something that in recent years is back in vogue, especially in the women's field (with some cunning and artistic overstatement). Peyroux is not new to the thing (it debuted in 1996), and, thanks to impeccable production and arrangements, returns with a gem like that. A repertoire that draws beautifully to that of Leonard Cohen (the sinuous Dance Me To The End Of Love), Bob Dylan (You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go, one of the best album), Hank Williams (melancholic Weary Blues) and WC Handy (the irresistible Careless Love), and a classic J'ai deux amours d'epoque which, as well as other lesser-known composers. In light her beautiful voice autumnal tones (inflections style Billie Holiday), without forcing or hamming: besides mastery of the subject, great sensitivity and passion.
